Dear Customers

Our sincere apologies for our sudden closing down in May 2011, which was sadly triggered by the Great Eastern Japan Earthquake which somehow spread bad rumours that Japanese food was contaminated with nuclear radioactive. On a global scale there are many Japanese restaurants which became a secondary victim of this unprecedented disaster, and we are sorry that we were not an exception.

The closing-down sale in our ground floor shop received an overwhelming response with our regular customers queuing for souvenir and greeting throughout the day. We also received a number of emails and cards from our customers replying to our farewell message some of which you will find below.

Thank you so much for all your kind support and warm custom for our five and half year history. We will update you when there is any news of our future plans - hopefully our paths cross again.

With Kindest Regards

Dear Saki,

I am so sorry to hear that you are closing – you were without doubt my favourite Japanese restaurant and I’m really sad and shocked to hear that you are closing down. I’ve had some of the best meals of my life in your restaurant, many that I shall not forget. The service has also always been exceptional. I’m very sad to hear that we won’t be able to eat at your restaurant even one more time.

I’m sure with talent such as yours you will soon be opening something else soon. Please feel free to keep my contact details and to email me with any news of new ventures which you start. Similarly, if you have a change of heart, please let me know!

Yours
J.P.

Dear Saki,

We didn't notice your message telling us you were leaving. This week we tried to come, only to our shock and horror, to find you were no more. Which is when I looked through my e.mails as, I couldn't believe that you would just close without letting good customers and sure enough there was a message from you that we had missed. I hope that you still get this email.

I can honestly say that you were my favourite restaurant ever. We shall really miss you. The food was excellent as was the service and the surroundings. I am so sorry we missed your sale, too.

I am so sorry that you felt the need to close. We for one were not influenced by the quake and would have trusted you not to use any unsafe produce.

My son and I are still in shock that you have gone, and so quickly. We really have no where to go that remotely touches on your quality.

If you do get this message, can you recommend any where that is good to go?

I wish you all the best with what ever you choose to do, and all your staff too. We would love to see you open up again and hope that would be possible, but for now take care and we will miss you.

Yours with best wishes,
L.D.

I am so sad to hear that Saki has closed down. It is our favourite Japanese restaurant in London, and now we have nowhere to go for our special treats and tastes of Japan. How will we now be able to meet the finest sake brewers from Japan and sample the best sake? This really is terrible news.

As a small consolation I would like to buy something to remember you by. Do you have any appointments available for Sunday afternoon? If not, are you open on Bank Holiday Monday?

Again, I am very sad to hear you are not able to stay in business. I sincerely hope you are able to reopen again in the future and bring back the finest Japanese food to London.

Kindest regards,
D.B.

We are very sorry to hear this news. Saki has always been our favourite restaurant in London. Onozaki-sensei’s shojin kaiseki menus are without parallel, truly world class.

Unfortunately, we regret, we have not visited nearly as often as we would have liked – though this has been due to general personal circumstances rather than the Earthquake.

We hope to visit you tomorrow. However, if we do not get to see you, please accept our sincerest compliments and gratitude for your most excellent hospitality, wonderful food, and joyful memories.

Our best and warmest regards, and best wishes in your future endeavours,
G.D.

I'm really sorry to hear this sad news. I hadn't visited in too long but I really miss you all and hope you are all ok. I have so many happy memories from your place.

Take care, all the best,
J.M.

I am very sorry to hear that you are closing down having enjoyed a lovely meal at your restaurant a few months ago. I am surprised by the reaction of so many ill-informed people regarding the impact on Japanese food and sorry that this has meant that you and so many other fantastic Japanese establishments are being forced to close down.

My sincerest apologies.
A.J.

Hello

Very sorry indeed to hear you are closing down: I always thought your food (and cocktails!) were magnificent. I hope you manage to re-open or open something similar in the future.

Best wishes,
I.G.

Dear Saki

I am very sorry to read from you about your closing down. I have actually planned to take some friends for a visit in the next couple of days since I have been telling them how good your food and sake is....

Sadly after your closure I will have to find my favourite Japanese restaurant again.

All the best for the future.

Regards,
J.Y.

Dear Saki Team

We are very sad to hear that and we both wish you all the best and success in your future ventures. Certainly we are still eating Japanese food but due to travelling, we didn't show up at yours.

Best regards,
A.B.

Dear all at Saki

I was saddened to learn about the difficulties that have led to your decision to close down. I have greatly enjoyed the many hours I spent at Saki and will miss the kindness of all who worked there. I wish you all the best for the future.
